Our Story

AJ Steam Cleaning was founded by John Mullenmeister in 1975, and is a second generation family-owned company now operated by John’s son, Dan Mullenmeister.

John started small and humbly, and with an incredible amount of hard work and determination he built AJ Steam Cleaning into one of the most trusted and best-reviewed carpet cleaning companies in the Twin Cities.

Meet the Owner - Dan Mullenmeister

Dan has over 20 years of experience in the carpet care industry. As a teenager, he started going out on jobs with his dad John, and in 2009 he started working full-time as a carpet cleaning technician alongside John.

In 2019, Dan took over the day-to-day operations of AJ Steam Cleaning after John was severely injured in a car accident. Sadly, John passed away in October 2021, but Dan continues the work that his dad started with the same kind of energy, enthusiasm, honesty and integrity.

Dan is the sole owner and operator of AJ Steam Cleaning. What does this mean? Well, it means that Dan is responsible for all aspects of running the business. From taking phone calls, to scheduling, to cleaning, you’ll work with Dan through it all.
